HOTEL X STAYCATION

I decided to end our summer with a little city staycation with my littlest one…Hudson. We wanted to go somewhere new…somewhere fun…and somewhere a little fancy! Living and working in the west end, I’ve driven past our destination numerous times and I’ve heard amazing things, so the choice was easy…Hotel X here we come!

Arrival

We were wow-ed from the beginning. The entrance way is beautiful! Gorgeous tall ceilings, beautiful furniture and warm and welcoming staff, Hudson even got a little stuffy when we got our key :).

First things first, we had to go and check out our room and let me tell you, it didn’t disappoint! It was spacious, beds were luxurious and our view was amazing! We were facing east with the most perfect view of the CN Tower and Lake Ontario. Hudson was thrilled with the size of the tub, the mini fridge and the fact that the window coverings were powered by the touch of a button LOL. They even made sure there was a child-sized robe and slippers laid out for him.

Pool Time

After we checked out the room it was time to head up to the roof-top pool. When we booked our room, we were able to schedule a 2 hour time-slot but you’re also able to head up at any time and if there’s space due to COVID limitations, then you’re welcome to hop in! So in we went!!! The water was warm, the sun was shining and the service was amazing. The lounge chairs were very comfortable and turned over any time someone left, and the server is walking around regularly taking orders that you can easily charge to your room. Of course, with all the swimming one gets a little peckish, so we treated ourselves to a cocktail and a little guacamole. All was delicious!

After our snack we went back to our room for a little down time and then went to the main level to check out the Kandy Gallery. The gallery is filled with beautiful pieces by Niel Dankoff. A talented photographer that takes some amazing landscape photos, that you can enjoy throughout the entire hotel, our room included.

After that it was back to the pool for our scheduled time-slot. We did have reservations for the steak restaurant in the evening, but Hud was enjoying the pool so much, that we decided to just have dinner there. Fish tacos, truffle sliders and a side of fries were the perfect choice.

Amenities

In the elevator, there’s a screen that scrolls through some of the amenities available in the hotel. Of course Hudson saw that there’s a golf simulator, so post dinner, we decided to check it out. Hotel X is attached to 10XTO private fitness centre, so guests have access to some of those amenities as well. We booked an hour at the simulator, where we played not only golf but zombie baseball, zombie dodgeball, soccer, and football too! Hudson had a blast.

While at the fitness centre, we threw in a few games of ping pong and basketball. I won’t tell you who won.

Private screening

From Thursday to Sunday they have regularly scheduled movie screenings, however on other evenings, guests are still able to use the movie theatre. It being a Wednesday, someone had reserved a seating at 9:00pm. All other guests are able to join, however that first person to make the reservation has choice of what is viewed. We arrived before 9:00pm but by 9:05 they weren’t there, so the choice was now ours! Hudson chose to watch Captain America. So we had a private screening, with popcorn and water in some super comfy lounge chairs, so comfy that Hudson fell asleep. Once the eyes were closing, it was time to call it a night. Back up to the room to fall back asleep to some amazing night-time city views, in our comfy beds and super soft sheets.

Good Morning

In the morning we decided to go for a early morning dunk in the pool. We were the only ones there! A bit of a chilly morning but the heated pool was lovely. After that we ordered breakfast to our room. Hudson got a kick out of having room service for the first time. The food was delicious and delivered quickly. After that, it was back for a little more ping pong before we wrapped up our trip!

Overall, we were absolutely thrilled with our little staycation. There’s still so much more of the hotel I’d like to enjoy…the spa, the rooftop bar and the steakhouse restaurant, but I’ll save those for when I visit again with my husband.
